Truck driver Jos Broeks in front of the lens

For this assignment I took pictures of truck driver Jos Broeks. The great thing about photographing drivers is: they are not photo models, but often they are photogenic. That certainly applies to Jos.

At first he found it a bit uncomfortable to have his picture taken – something I can understand very well. Many people prefer not to be in the spotlight. But as soon as I tell them that I have been behind the wheel myself, the atmosphere often changes immediately. That creates recognition and trust. And that is exactly what is important with reportage photography and portrait photography.

If photographer in transport and logistics it’s not just about capturing the right moment. It’s also about making someone feel comfortable. A good portrait starts with a click. With a conversation. With a laugh together. Because then there’s room for real images – images that show the work as it is.

That's why it's important to choose a photographer that suits you. Someone who understands you, speaks the same language and knows how things work in the sector.

Check out the series I made of Jos during his workday below. Pure, recognizable and without fuss – exactly as it is.
