On the way to the talents of the future - Training company and Practical trainer of the year 2025 transport and logistics

What's better than putting young talent in the spotlight? This year, I was once again invited to join the STL press caravan, camera in hand, to celebrate the winners of the election. Training Company and Practical Trainer of the Year Transport and Logistics to photograph. And honestly? It remains a celebration. Because behind every trophy awarded lies a story of dedication and love for transport and logistics.

Houweling Group: customization with a warm heart
The main prize for Best Training Company 2025 went to the Houweling Group in Bleiswijk. And for good reason. At Houweling, everything revolves around people. Not the resume, but potential is central. The expert jury rightly called it a "top-notch learning company." Students receive personal guidance, intensive contact, and genuine opportunities to grow—even when things aren't going well. The atmosphere is family-like, and even the management is closely involved. An inspiring example for the entire sector.

During my visit, I immediately saw it: people work here with passion. While taking my photos, I heard stories about how interns grow into permanent employees and how there's room for everyone's learning journey. They truly invest in their people here. Houweling is a truly warm, family-run business.

Peter de Voigt: the practical trainer who always perseveres
The title Best Practical Trainer 2025 went to Peter de Voigt of GEODIS. For fifteen years, he's been mentoring students with heart and soul. And you can feel it. His strength? Personal attention. Peter knows his students inside and out. He looks beyond the curriculum and ensures that everyone feels at home and earns their diploma. Often, students even stay with him: as a permanent employee, as a colleague, as a person.

Young talent with a future in its hands
In addition to the training companies and practical trainers, the STL Talents of 2025 were also surprised at their workplace learning opportunities. These young people work in transport or logistics with joy and dedication every day, such as Kas Wagemakers of Van der Linden Transport and Bart van de Valk of Sanders|Fritom. These young people demonstrate that even at a young age, you can exude craftsmanship. A nice touch: influencer Martijn Kuipers surprised the winners at their workplace – the looks of amazement and pride were priceless.

Why this election is so important
The award is more than just a moment of joy or a photoshoot. It's about passion for the profession. A tribute to the companies and individuals who are committed to the future of the sector. In a time when skilled personnel are scarce, training companies and practical trainers make all the difference. They ensure sustainable recruitment, knowledge transfer, and job satisfaction.

See you next year
It was once again an honor to experience this firsthand. Thanks to all the winners, nominees, and organizations involved. And who knows, maybe we'll see you next year – camera at the ready, searching for stories of craftsmanship and the future.
